Tragedy Becomes Her: Nadya “Octomom” Suleman Facing Eviction

PERPETUAL SAD STORY NADYA “OCTOMOM” SULEMAN IS IN THE HEADLINES after her hairdresser allegedly reported her for child endangerment and squalor. On top of that, her bank is seeking to foreclose on her home.

I saw the pictures at TMZ, and her home looks like a drug den filled with clutter, sparse furnishings and graffiti everywhere. The squalor looks a lot like what you see inside the Jersey Shore house. Still, the LeHabra police and Orange County Department of Family and Children’s Services officials found no cause to remove her children from the home.

The Octomom gave birth to eight babies in January 2009, bringing the total size of her brood to 14. Can you imagine the decibel level from 14 children playing in the backyard?

Reports circulated this week that she only had one working toilet and the kids were using potties outside. Yet she spent $500 bucks on styling her hair a few times and stocking up on product while keeping the kids locked inside a different room. Last time I looked, Walmart sells Pantene for $4 a bottle; no wonder she’s broke. The resulting online shit storm led the company that provided the “Brazilian Blowout” to refund her money — and to offer free stylings to her in the future.

Brazilian Blowout CEO Mike Brady told TMZ, “We want to make sure that California taxpayers’ money is not going to anything other than taking care of [Nadya Suleman’s] children. We don’t want to see those kids miss out on anything at the cost of a Brazilian Blowout.”

Nadya rationalizes her spending this way: “I’ve been using the media to pay the bills. Any offer, now, is to take care of my kids.”

Excuse me? I thought she was struggling and that’s why she posed nude? According to reports, Suleman won’t fix her toilets for $150, collects foodstamps, faces foreclosure — yet has a stylist?

The tragedy of Nadya’s octo delivery continues unabated. It would be nice to see some organizations or individuals step in to help this tragic family on a daily basis. Dr. Drew Pinsky promised regular housecleanings for a year last November but apparently the deal only applies when the cameras are nearby.

There can be no happy ending to this story. The public clamors for Nadya’s head and with or without her, her kids will suffer from the travesty their lives have become. Where are the right-to-lifers who shun anyone who even consider aborting? Where is their charity now that this mother and children are suffering so publicly?

What’s overlooked through the noise is what the hair stylist who reported her to the police also told TMZ:

“She needs help. She can’t do this by herself. There’s too many kids. They’re not getting the help they need.”
