Teresa & Joe Guidice Post $1 Million In Bonds
By Karen Malmquist
THE GIUDICES ARE FREE! For now. Sort of.
This morning the Real Housewives of New Jersey couple surrendered to the federal authorities in their fraud case, and are free on $500 thousand bond each.
But here’s the catch: the two have had to surrender their passports, and are not allowed to leave New Jersey and New York, and have to return to federal court on August 14 to be arraigned. Joe, not being an American citizen, faces possible deportation back to Italy.
Teresa wore white — the color of innocence for celebrities facing jail time. But Joe seemed to not worry about making a good impression during this time (or at all), because he apparently got into a tiff with a paparazzo outside the courthouse. Trying to start a fight outside the courthouse doesn’t exactly endear you to the court.
According to her attorney, Teresa plans to plead not guilty during their next court date. This should come as no surprise, denial landed her Entertainment Weekly’s list of greatest TV villains. When faced with decades behind bars, the last thing she’s going to do is fess up to anything. Which we must point out is her legal right.
Bravo, the home network of the Housewives franchise, has no comment on the matter. As of right now, there’s no comment on Twitter from the franchise’s other castmates. Maybe they’re saving commentary for the reunion show…or season six. This is around the usual time the show begins filming, and it would make for one killer season opener.
What’s Teresa going to do for the next two weeks before her next visit to the courthouse? I’m guessing taking to her blog to once again defend her man. With the couple facing 39 federal counts on charges that they falsified mortgage and other loan applications and failed to file income tax forms, they’ll need a good argument.
