‘ONE OF THE MOST PLEASANT HUMAN BEINGS’

Nic Cannon Writes Loving Letter To ‘Sister’ Amanda Bynes
By Elizabeth Coady
NIC CANNON PROVES HE’S A CLASS ACT by penning an open letter of love and support to his troubled “sister” Amanda Bynes.
Cannon, who starred with Bynes during the five season of Nickelodeon’s All That 14 years ago, published the lengthy emotional letter on his personal website.
America’s Got Talent‘s emcee says he’s been asked frequently by media to comment on Bynes, currently being involuntarily held for psychiatric issues. “I see this as no laughing matter,” Cannon wrote. “I tweeted a few weeks about how the entertainment industry just consumes people and spits them out like flavorless bubblegum.”
He lamented the dangers of celebrity. “I am always the first to say that fame and entertainment is one of the best and easiest occupations to ever have, but one must know how to navigate through the matrix or you may find yourself in a very dark hole,” he wrote. “When a person is told all of their life that they are awesome, the best, the greatest and they are catered to every moment of the day. Imagine being the breadwinner in your household before you can even drive. Imagine you parents, teachers, and employers NEVER telling you NO. Anything you ask for or want, the world gives you, at some point you are bound to self-destruct. I call this “access to excess.”
“The question is, when this destruction occurs, who is there to help put back the pieces. What do you do when you have no solid support system?,” he continued. ” …When you feel like you parents have a conditional appreciation for you and only really love your money. You find yourself alone in that dark hole.”
Declaring that “no one on this planet needs to be judged or even has the right to judge,” Cannon asks us all to tread carefully when talking or writing about Bynes. And he ends his missive with these warm words directly for Bynes.
“So I say to my sister Amanda Bynes you’re not alone. I’m here for you. I understand. I care and I appreciate you, because that’s what family does and that’s what family is for. I also extend this to anyone else in my life, past or present that may find themselves in hard times. I’m here! Call me! Because I truly believe, the hand you’re helping up today may be the one you’re reaching for tomorrow.
So not to be all cheesy and over sentimental but I got to end this with the ingenious Wither’s lyrics “Lean on me when you’re not strong and I’ll be your friend, I’ll help you carry on. For it won’t be long until I’ll need somebody to lean on.”
Bynes is being confined to a psychiatric hospital where she is reportedly being dosed with a “drug cocktail” to help stabilize what’s believed to be schizophrenia. TMZ reports that a court hearing is scheduled for today during which Bynes will seek to be released from the hospital. Her parents are seeking to gain conservatorship over her and her estate alleging “it’s essential for her to get long-term care and supervision.”
