Do You think Henri Le Chat Cares About Winning Inaugural ‘Golden Kitty’ Award? Non
By Elizabeth C.
WE CAN ONLY HOPE THAT HENRI LE CHAT’S ENNUI gives way to contentment after he discovers he’s recipient of the world’s first “Golden Kitty” award.
Henri 2, Paw de Deux, a black and white drama depicting the existential morass of a black and white cat, was voted best cat video at the world’s first Internet Cat Film Festival. The event was held Thursday night at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis.
Naturally, the subject of the film stayed home, indifferent to the “morons” who love him despite himself. In his stead, his owner Will Braden traveled from Seattle to accept his prize.
“This is a great honor. I don’t think I’ve ever purred this loudly,” said Braden, a wedding videographer who is also Henri’s exploiter. (He earns $1,000 a week from Henri merchandise!)
More than 10,000 videos were submitted to the contest, with an estimated 70 selected for screening Thursday night, according to festival curator Katie Hill. The winning video of the inaugural contest will air September 8 on Animal Planet’s My Cat From Hell.
Do not expect cooperation from Henri.
