WHY NOT?
O Rly? Bird Tries Stealing Baby For Prey
By Elizabeth C.
O RLY? A BIRD OF PREY GETS HUNGRY, sees chubby prey and swoops down for what looks like a tasty vittle. But the little chunk is too heavy so the predator loses its grip. Sounds plausible to me. Why not?
A video capturing this very hunt is making the rounds today courtesy of MrNuclearCat on YouTube, who describes the bird as a “golden Eagle.” But skeptics believe the video is a fake, and there seems to be a whole lot of skeptics.
But their arguments are ones of rationale than proof of skullduggery. Writes “reknowned bird expert” Kenn Kaufman on Facebook:
“Golden Eagle is a scarce visitor in the Montreal area, but the bird in the video is not a Golden Eagle, nor anything else that occurs in the wild in North America. This was clearly a setup: using a falconer’s bird, and probably a fake toddler for the distant scene. With all the ignorance about nature that’s out there already, the last thing we need is this kind of stupid garbage.“
Skeptics didn’t believe the Aussie mom who said that a dingo ate her Aussie baby? And you know what happened in that case, right? Thirty-two years later, Lindy Chamberlain-Creighton was cleared of suspicion in her daughter’s kidnapping.
Skepticism can be a healthy thing. But what’s strange about a bird wanting to eat?
