BREAKING BAD

Daft Punk Cancels On The Colbert Report, Colbert Makes Own Luck
By Elizabeth Coady
AN INTERNECINE FIGHT FOR THE RIGHT TO ‘GET LUCKY,’ or specifically to hear Daft Punk play its disco-fused ode to frucking, forced the French electronica duo Daft Punk to dump its scheduled appearance at The Colbert Report‘s ” “StePhest Colbchella” festival.
Seems MTV had the synth pop duo signed to make a surprise appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards airing August 25. Wanting to protect the rating advantage for its upcoming broadcast, MTV invoked an exclusivity clause, forcing the duo to cancel on Colbert at the last minute.
Colbert, who professed to be miffed, nevertheless “took the high road” and urged viewers to watch the VMAs on “September 27th, on VH1, at 9pm, 4:30 Pacific, this year hosted by Chris Brown.” Paula Deen and the e-Trade baby will also make special performances.
But then he got the best revenge by lipsyncing and dancing to the synth pop song along with celebrity friends including Hugh Laurie, Jeff Bridges, Jimmy Fallon, and Bryan Cranston on the sets of Charlie Rose and America’s Got Talent. The skit is hilarious and Colbert’s dance moves are shockingly tight.
The man is a genius, and I can’t remember when I laughed so hard. Check it out.
