SNIFF SNIFF. (WIPES TEAR.)The MAINSTREAM CO-OPTION OF THE Gregory Brothers is complete.
Those hipster musicians who auto-tune the news have colluded with the New York Times in the release of its latest Songified event: the foreign policy debate between Obama and Mittens.
The latest number has moderator Bob Schieffer yelping like Jay-Z, and includes the band’s usual incisive take synthesized to a catchy beat.
“Is the threat from Iran getting overblown or should I use my X-box to bomb them with drones….Why should you run the show? Tell us, ’cause we need to know.”
But this time the band’s gone further! They’ve written an editorial for the Times imploring the winning candidate to sing their acceptance speech.”
In an odd way, watching this makes me feel like we’re all in this together; like Americans are one for all and all for one — and that politics is just another team sport in which the losing team gracefully admits defeat.
Fat chance of that happening! But if your man loses, you can soothe yourself with some Hennessy and song. And know that the real winner here is The Gregory Brothers.
