The Gift Of A Meaningful Life: Canadian Couple Give Away $11.2 Million Lottery
ALLEN AND VIOLET LARGE ARE LIVING UP TO THEIR LAST NAME.
When the Canadian couple won $11.2 million in a lottery last July, they decided that the money "was a big headache" and gave it all away.
"That money that we won was nothing," Allen, 75, told a reporter while choking back tears. "We have each other."
“It made us feel good,” says Violet. “There’s so much good being done with that money.”
The couple say they aren't rich but are comfortable and happy in their old home in Nova Scotia. Violet, 78, was diagnosed with cancer in the spring and has just completed chemotherapy.
Among the beneficiaries of the couple's largess are the hospitals where Violet was treated, as well as family, the Red Cross, churches, cemeteries and more. In all, the couple filled two pages with the names of beneficiaries.
"We're the lucky ones,'' says Violet. "I have no complaints."
