Stephen Hawking Is Guilty Of Alien Profiling
A CLICHED VISION
Stephen Hawking Is Guilty Of Alien Profiling
ASTROPHYSICIST STEPHEN HAWKING JOINS THE CHORUS of credible voices who believe that alien life forms exist, in his case based only on the sheer number of galaxies that exist in the universe.
But in a new Discovery series in which he makes the assertion, Hawking advises humans to avoid summonsing alien life forms because, if they arrive, they'll likely be seeking to steal Earth's resources.
Hawking speculated that alien visits would be as devastating to the planet as Christopher Columbus' arrival in the New World was for Native Americans.
"I imagine they might exist in massive ships, having used up all the resources from their home planet," he said. "Such advanced aliens would perhaps become nomads, looking to conquer and colonize whatever planets they can reach."
Who knew that Hawking was such a close-minded pessimist, capable of stereotyping hypothetical aliens with one broad brush!
Who suspected that his world view would be so male-directed?
Yes, it only makes sense that, in this world without edges that some other beings exist, some perhaps even more advanced than ourselves.
But isn't it also possible that there are planets ruled by lovers, not haters?
By evolved souls?
By LOLcats?
Or – crazy idea, I know -- maybe even a few worlds in which some feminine energy rules, where the worst that can happen is you get bitch-slapped or backstabbed by an alpha?
Here’s my point, Stephen: while you’re giving us permission to imagine the unimaginable, would it kill you to envision a different, maybe even better, kind of world?

Stephen Hawking is recently in the news for saying (if I have this right) that the universe could have come into being without the assistance of God. Given his own deplorable condition, I can't help wondering if he feels he could similarly get by without the assistance of God himself...

Morles, do you have evidence to make the statement that 'aliens are more likely to evolve from predators?' Is it possible for us to know what the conditions are a million galaxies away? You have to couch your subjecture with the statement that 'based on our experiences on earth,' in which I give you -- yes -- run like hell if Earthlings arrive on your planet. They will be wringing your planet of any natural resources in a geologic blink of an eye as compared to that planet's existence in the solar system. Hawking speaks from his experience here on earth only. We can't know, but we can definitely speculate. And we can prepare for any eventuality.

Predators are more intelligent than herbivores. ALiens are more likely to evolve from predators. Most intelligent animals on earth can demonstrate violent behavior.
Period. He makes a highly educated guess(he is one of the greatest minds on earth, your not) and you accuse him of being sexiest because he is basing his guess on facts and evidence?
Gee who is more likely spewing gender centric garbage you or Dr. Hawking?

But you've made the author's point here exactly when you say 'and the sort of murders which one guesses the alients would carry out.'
Is aggression the only thing we can imagine aliens displaying? If there are billions of universes, why can't Hawking (or, in this instance, you) imagine that hypothetical advanced life forms might have also evolved beyond aggression and murder?? Isn't that a possibility to?

I was referring to exploitation of resources, and the sort of murders which one guesses the aliens would carry out. Conventional weapons would likely be too much trouble and too destructive of natural resources, and nuclear weapons doubly so.
Whatever they would choose would be a much more feminine method, in my speculation.
Instead, they would "poison" us, using something like biological warfare or some technology which is incomprehensible to us but which does NOT involve the sort of brute force that characterizes masculine acts of brutality.
This is much closer to the classic women's murder by poison than it is to a murder by force of the kind which is associated with men. (We all know that women are the kings [or queens, as it were] of poisoning throughout history.)
So, the sort of more subtle or insidious extraterrestrial crime which Hawking was warning us against -- something like exploitation of our resources after neutralizing us -- depending on how it's carried out, would be at least as fairly characterized as a feminine campaign as a masculine one.

Uh, sorry Justin, but "violent crime is very much the domain of men. Men are responsible for most criminal acts and they are the victims more often than women. This is true even in the acutely tragic cases of the murder of a child. Of murder victims aged 5 years or under, most are males and most are killed by a man.
The graph presents homicide offender rates for men and women. Rates charted are the number of homicide offenders, by gender and year, for every 100,000 people in the population. Men murder on average 8 times for every murder perpetrated by a woman. The homicide rate "gender gap" hasn't closed over the years. In fact it has increased, and this despite a decline in number of homicides. In 1976 the ratio of male murderers to female was 5 to 1. By 1999 it was 9 to1 and at its peak, in 1995, it reached a surprisingly high 11 to 1 ratio."

Uh, do you really believe that women are not capable of worse than "bitch slapping" and "back stabbing"? (BTW, a "bitch slap" is not a slap that a "bitch" deals out, it's a slap that a "bitch" receives, generally from a man.)
If you really believe that, you've missed out on a lot of particularly nasty murders, especially poisonings, and husbands who have been ruthlessly exploited either in marriage or during a divorce, not unlike an alien raping an Earth-like planet for all it has.
So, a "feminized" group of nomadic alien resource hogs could be quite a lot like Hawkings vision.
I'll check back here to see what ideas you have with regard to what I've just written!
