BROTASTIC OPPORTUNITY

Here’s Your Chance To Double Date Craiglist’s Notorious Bro-tastic ‘Centaur’ Twins
By Elizabeth Coady
THEY TOOK THE WEB BY STORM AS THE CENTAUR TWINS LOOKING FOR NO-STRINGS-ATTACHED blind dates on Craigslist. They pitched themselves as “dashingly tall,” “Anglo-Saxon,” “completely house trained,””sensitive..bad boys,” who love their mothers and had seen Love Actually several times.
That “bro-tastic” sense of playfulness netted them hundreds of candidates eager for a night out on the town with Mike and Dave Stangle. But that was just how their story begins, because after their now classic “best of Craiglist” ad went viral, Fox2000 bought their story rights to make a movie, Simon & Schuster signed them for a book, and “people actually think we’re cool!,” exclaims Mike Stangle via email.
But here’s the best news: A double-date with the brothers, who were inundated with “too many [offers] to even count” after their Craiglist ran, is now being auctioned off at CHARITY BUZZ.
Upon the close of this auction, my brother Mike and I would like to take you and a friend out for a nice night on the town. We’re both very tall and our mother reassures us constantly that we’re at least moderately handsome. We promise to comb and part our hair. We promise the conversation will flow as freely as the wine and we’ll get you to laugh somewhere between 10 and 40 times, usually ranging from smirks to hard chuckles. We promise to be gentlemen and show chivalry beyond your expectations. We also promise to promptly drop those reserved characteristics should the music pick up, we switch to hard liquor, the music & fog machine are turned on at the same time, or all of the above (if that’s your thing).
Here’s your chance to say you ‘knew them when’ — before they became the subjects of a Hollywood romcom and a New York Tims bestseller. And your money will go to a great cause: to support Communities In Schools, which helps at-risk students in Los Angeles get the support they need to stay in school. The only catch: the three-hour date takes place in New York City.
“We hope you’ll donate and donate generously, because that’s your thing and you’re a great person,” write the brothers at CharityBuzz. “We cannot wait to redefine everything you ever thought a double date could be.”
