Cleared Elvis Impersonator Sings Unchained Melody On Today

By Elizabeth C.

FREE AFTER BEING CLEARED OF CHARGES THAT HE SENT PRESIDENT OBAMA and a Mississippi senator letters tainted with ricin, Elvis impersonator Paul Kevin Curtis was singing an unchained melody this morning on the TODAY show. And his message to authorities: Think twice, it ain’t all right to charge him with crimes he didn’t commit.

For starters, when Homeland Security and FBI agents showed up with hoods and machines guns pulled April 17, Curtis says knew not a whit what they were looking for. “I had never heard of ricin,” Curtis, 45, told Savannah Guthrie. “I thought they said ‘rice,’ and I said ‘I don’t eat rice.’

Secrets Of J.D. Salinger, Literary Man Of Mystery, Betrayed By His Own Words

By Elizabeth C.

FOR A WRITER WHO SPENT HIS LAST DECADES ALIVE ESCHEWING THE FAME HIS LITERARY ACHIEVEMENT BROUGHT HIM, J.D. Salinger’s private world continues to be violated by his own words.

The notoriously private Salinger, creator of the teenage protagonist Holden Caulfield, recoiled from the public eye after his novel Catcher In the Rye became a perennial bestseller. Despite retreating from the publishing world and refusing to publishing his later works, Salinger continued to be vexed by attention, including books written by both his daughter Marjorie Caulfield and his-once teenaged lover, Joyce Maynard. He died in 2010 at the age of 91.

The latest unmasking comes through nine letters Salinger author wrote to a fan who struck up a correspondence after reading his short stories. Between 1941 and 1943, his pen pal was Marjorie Sheard of Toronto, who claimed she was an aspiring writer. Now 95 and with the cost of her care increasing, her family decided to sell the private letters to The Morgan Library & Museum, which shared them with the New York Times.

Now, tongues are wagging about Kimye being “homeless,” to which we say “bitch, please.”

THE RULES OF ENGAGEMENT

Dave Spade Deadpans ‘Reese Is ‘Falling To Pieces’

By Elizabeth C.

TMZ’S SCORED SOME GRAINY VIDEO SHOWING REESE WITHERSPOON IN HANDCUFFS THAT you can check out here, but we think far more worthy of your time (okay, not really) is
David Spade’s off-the-cuff guideline on when it’s okay to pull the ol’
‘Don’t you know who I am’ excuse.

“Reese is falling to pieces, is that what I’m hearing?,” Spade cracks to TMZ’s reporter on scene.

“I think the general rule is when you say, ‘Do you know who I am?,’ the answer is most likely no,’ ‘ the gum-chewing comedian opines. “If you have to explain to someone you’re famous then you’re technically not that famous.”
